Newcastle line up cut-price deal for Scott Brown
Newcastle are continuing to chase Celtic Captain and Scotland international midfielder, Scott Brown.
Alan Pardew has had a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old and has been alerted by a delay in contract negotiations which appear to have reached an impasse between Celtic and Brown.
The former Hibernian midfielder was once quoted as saying that he had no interest in a move south of the border but a failure to resolve his contract may force him to reconsider as Brown is free to talk to other clubs in January and is likely to be available for a cut-price fee as Celtic look to recoup some cash instead of allowing him to walk away for nothing.
Another potential avenue for a deal between the two clubs could involve the loan deal with Fraser Forster with the Hexham born stopper potentially being used as a makeweight in any deal that may transpire.
Brown has made 233 appearances and scored 24 goals for Hibernian and Celtic and is known for his impressive workrate. He is also a full Scottish international and has made 27 appearances for the national side.
