Arsenal eye Montpellier duo

Arsenal are keeping tabs on Montpellier duo Mapou Yanga M’Biwa and Olivier Giroud as Arsene Wenger looks to add some depth to his squad in January.

With Montpellier flying high in Ligue 1 at the moment it is perhaps only natural their Captain and top-scorer have attracted interest from other clubs throughout Europe, and with Newcastle also interested in both the players it would appear that competition is hotting up.

M’Biwa plays in central defence and would be signed with a view to strengthening a frail backline that has been exposed numerous times over the last few seasons. At 22-years-old he already has great experience and has played in over 100 league games for his club whilst also having the best years of his career in front of him.

Giroud would be signed with a view of strengthening the Arsenal attack which looks weak should anything happen to Robin van Persie. The Montpellier frontman has scored 11 goals already this term and has forced his way into Laurent Blanc’s France team after making his debut earlier on in the year.

A fee of around £20 million for the two players would be required, with rated at £14 million and M’Biwa rated at somewhere in the region of £6 million.
